Deleting your account when you are on a team
Updated 4 October 2026
You can delete your own account while you are on a team, with a few exceptions. If one applies, the delete page refuses and says why. This page lists each message, what it means and what to do. The general steps for deleting an account are in How to delete your account and your data.
A Sponsored member has no team-specific hurdle. After the account is gone, the team's activity log records only that "A member deleted their account and left the team."
The messages you may see
You still have secondary accounts
"Someone else is connected to your account as a secondary account. Remove them on People first — we tell them by email — and then delete yours."
If there are several, it reads "(number) other people are connected to your account as secondary accounts. Remove them on People first — we tell each of them by email — and then delete yours." Removing a secondary you made for them deletes that account. Removing someone who had their own account only ends the link. Either way, remove them first. See What a secondary account is.
You own a team
"You run the team "(name)". Hand it to someone else or close it on People & Team, then you can delete your account."
Only the Owner can hand a team over or close it. Do one of those first: How to hand your team to someone else or How to close a team. While a close is still running, the message changes to "Your team "(name)" is being closed. We'll email you when that has finished, and then you can delete your account."
Your account is managed by a team
"Your account is managed by (team name)'s team, so it can't be closed from here. Ask someone who runs the team to release or remove you."
A Managed member's account belongs to the company, and closing it would be a way of leaving that a Managed member cannot use once the team has started. This applies to the person holding the seat, and only after the team has moved past getting started. If the team is closing, the message reads "(team name)'s team is being closed, which takes you off it. Until then, your account can't be closed from here."
This does not apply to Sponsored members, to secondaries in someone's account, or to anyone on a team that is still getting started. For the difference between Managed and Sponsored, see Managed and Sponsored members, and for what releasing does, Leaving, removing and releasing people from a team.
You were released and the copies are still coming off
"GetCalendario is still removing the copies it made between your calendars and (team name)'s. You can delete your account once that's finished, usually within a day."
After a release, GetCalendario takes back the copies it made between your calendars and the company's. Deleting your account at that moment would remove the records it needs to do that, and the copies would stay on the calendars. Wait for it to finish, then try again.
Your team has other members
"Your team has other members, so it cannot be closed from here. Email support@getcalendario.com and we will hand the team over or close it with you."
This appears when you own the account that other people sit in, and they would be left on an account with nobody running it. The people who would go with your account, such as secondaries you created, do not count.
What the team sees afterwards
The team keeps the record of what happened and loses the name. In the activity log, anything you did or that was done to you shows as "A deleted account" or "a deleted account", and an invitation line loses the address it went to. The line that you left reads "A member deleted their account and left the team." The team never sees your calendars, either way. See The team activity log and What a team can and cannot see.
What to know
- If the team was paying for you, your seat goes when your account does.
- Deleting an account is permanent.
- If you only want to stop being on the team, leaving is a different action: see Leaving, removing and releasing people from a team.
