What changes for you when you join a team

Updated 10 October 2026

Joining a team changes who pays for your GetCalendario, not what you have. Your calendar accounts, connections and sync rules stay where they are, and the team cannot see them. If you were paying for a plan of your own, that plan is handed over to the team at the team's first payment, not when you join and not when the team's trial starts.

Until then nothing happens to your plan. A team that is still on its trial has not paid anything, so your own plan keeps running and you keep paying for it. If the team never starts paying, nothing was ever taken from you.

What stays the same

  • Your calendars, connections and rules. The email you get when the hand-over happens says it plainly: your calendars, connections and rules are exactly where they were.
  • Your privacy. A team never sees your calendars, events, connections or sync rules. See What a team can and cannot see.
  • Your login. It does not change when you join, though a team policy can ask you to add two-factor sign-in. See Team policies.

When your own plan is handed over

The hand-over happens when the team's first payment succeeds. If you join a team that is already paying, it happens shortly after you join. What it does depends on how you were paying.

You pay monthly. Your plan is set to stop renewing at the end of the period you have already paid for. You keep it until that date. From that day the team covers you. Nothing is refunded, because nothing is cut short. The email names the date.

You pay yearly. Your yearly plan is cancelled that day. The unused days are refunded to the card you paid with. The refund is never more than you actually paid: if your year came from a coupon, a referral reward or a discount, you get back only the unused share of the money really charged, not the list price. If nothing was charged to a card, there is nothing to refund. If money is refunded, the email gives the amount, which says the refund usually shows up within 5 to 10 days.

You were on the free plan or the 14-day trial. There is no plan of yours to hand over. The team covers you from the start.

For the team's side of this, including how seats are counted, see How team billing works.

Can you still buy a plan of your own?

While the team is paying for you, there is no plan for you to buy. A plan bought now would only be handed over and ended again. While the team is only on its trial, you can still buy one. If the team's payments lapse, or its trial ends unpaid, the team gets a week to sort it out; from 7 days after the team lapses (People & Team shows the date) you can choose Pay for yourself instead on People & Team, which takes you off the team and on to a plan of your own. See What happens if the team bill is unpaid and How to upgrade, downgrade or cancel.

What if the team stops covering you

Your old plan does not come back on its own. If you leave the team or the Owner closes it, you go back to your own plan or to Free unless you buy a plan again. If the team stops paying, or its free trial ends without a card, you stay on it: after 14 days your syncs pause until the team pays. When you leave, are removed or are released, you keep the team's features for 14 days first. See Leaving, removing and releasing people from a team and What happens if the team bill is unpaid.
