How to connect a Microsoft 365 or Outlook.com calendar
Updated 9 October 2026
You connect a Microsoft calendar by adding the Microsoft account it belongs to. On Home, choose Connect a calendar (or Add account in the Accounts block if you already have one), pick Microsoft in the "Add a calendar account" dialog, sign in on Microsoft's page and approve the access it asks for. A Success! screen names the account and says how many calendars we found; choose OK to go back to Home, where the account and its calendars are listed.
There is one Microsoft button for all of it. The product does not ask whether your calendar is Microsoft 365, Outlook.com or Exchange Online, and it treats them the same way.
Steps
- Open Home and find the Accounts block. Choose Add account.
- In the dialog titled "Add a calendar account", choose Microsoft.
- Microsoft shows its account chooser. Pick the work, school or personal account that owns the calendar, or sign in to another one. It asks you to choose an account each time, so connecting a second account does not silently reuse the first.
- Approve the permissions Microsoft lists.
- A Success! screen says "Your Microsoft account you@example.com is connected." and how many calendars we found. Choose OK to go back to Home, where its calendars appear under the account.
Then you can set up a connection from any of its calendars.
What are you asked to allow?
GetCalendario asks Microsoft for permission to:
- sign you in and read your basic profile, so it can show which account is connected;
- read and write your calendars;
- keep that access without asking you to sign in again each time.
Microsoft's own screen lists these in its own words.
It uses calendar access to read events from a calendar you chose as a source and to create, change and delete the copies it makes on a calendar you chose as a destination, only through connections you set up. A short Test Flight check runs before a new connection copies anything real.
If Microsoft connects but some permissions are missing, you see "Microsoft connected but missing some permissions. Please reconnect." Connect again and approve everything listed.
Work and school accounts
Which accounts your organization allows is controlled by Microsoft and your organization's administrator, not by GetCalendario. If your organization restricts which apps staff may sign in to, Microsoft shows its own message instead of the permission screen, and an administrator may need to approve the app first. GetCalendario does not add any admin step beyond what Microsoft asks for. If you work with several organizations, see working across several Microsoft 365 tenants.
Adding more accounts and the plan limit
Each account counts against your plan's account limit. Free allows 2 accounts. At the limit, adding another shows "Account limit reached. Please upgrade your plan or remove an existing account to add a new one." See billing and plans.
If Microsoft shows an error page
If Microsoft's sign-in stops on an error page instead of sending you back, nothing was connected, so it is safe to try again. The usual cause is the browser's sign-in, for example several Microsoft accounts signed in at once, or an old tab. Open GetCalendario in a private (incognito) window, or sign out of your other Microsoft accounts first, then connect again. If the page says an administrator must approve the app, see Work and school accounts above.
If you come back to GetCalendario without finishing, Home shows a short note pointing you back to these steps.
If an account stops working
If Microsoft stops accepting the saved sign-in, for example after a password change or an administrator revoking access, the account shows as needing reconnecting and its connections pause. Use Reconnect on the account row, or Re-authorize in its actions menu, and sign in again. See Why is my calendar not syncing.
How do I disconnect a Microsoft account?
On Home, open the account's actions menu and choose Remove account. The "Remove this account?" dialog says how many calendars leave GetCalendario and how many connections will stop syncing, and asks:
- Also delete the events we copied, switched on: every event GetCalendario copied out of this account is deleted from the calendars it was copied to.
- Switched off (the default): those copies stay as ordinary events.
Neither can be undone. Your Microsoft account and your own events are not deleted.
