How to connect a Google calendar to GetCalendario
Updated 9 October 2026
You connect a Google calendar by adding the Google account it belongs to. On Home, choose Connect a calendar (or Add account in the Accounts block if you already have one), pick Google in the "Add a calendar account" dialog, sign in on Google's page and approve the access it asks for. A Success! screen names the account and says how many calendars we found; choose OK to go back to Home, where the account and its calendars are listed.
You only ever type your Google password on Google's own page. GetCalendario does not see it.
Steps
- Open Home and find the Accounts block. Choose Add account.
- In the dialog titled "Add a calendar account", choose Google.
- Google shows its account chooser. Pick the account that owns the calendar, or sign in to a different one. Google asks you to choose an account and to approve access every time, even for an account you have connected before.
- Approve the permissions. Make sure the calendar permission is ticked (see below).
- A Success! screen says "Your Google account you@example.com is connected." and how many calendars we found. Choose OK to go back to Home, where the account's calendars appear under it.
Once the account is there, you can set up a connection from any of its calendars.
What are you asked to allow?
GetCalendario asks for:
- your Google account's email address and basic profile, so it can show which account is connected;
- permission to see, edit, share and delete calendars and events (Google's screen words this broadly). GetCalendario only acts on the calendars you use in a connection.
The calendar permission is required. If you leave it unticked on Google's screen, the connection fails with the message "Permissions failed - you need to check Calendar permissions in order for our system to properly handle your calendar". Connect again and tick it.
What can it do with that access?
Calendar access lets GetCalendario read events from a calendar you chose as a source and create, change and delete the copies it makes on a calendar you chose as a destination. It only acts through connections you set up. Before a new connection copies anything real, a short check called Test Flight shows you what will land.
Connecting a second Google account
Repeat the same steps and choose a different account on Google's chooser. Each account counts against your plan's account limit. Free allows 2 accounts. If you are at the limit, adding another account shows "Account limit reached. Please upgrade your plan or remove an existing account to add a new one." See the plans for the other limits.
If Google shows an error page
Sometimes Google stops on its own page with "400. The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried." instead of sending you back. This comes from Google's sign-in in your browser, not from your account or from GetCalendario: Google's page can lose track of the sign-in when you started connecting twice, have several Google accounts signed in, used the back button or an old tab, or your browser blocks Google's cookies. Nothing was connected, so it is safe to try again:
- Open GetCalendario in a private (incognito) window, or in a browser signed in to only the Google account you are connecting.
- Choose Google once and wait for Google's page to load.
- Don't use the back button during sign-in.
- If your browser or an extension blocks cookies, allow them for accounts.google.com.
If you come back to GetCalendario without finishing, Home shows a short note pointing you back to these steps.
If an account stops working
If Google stops accepting the saved sign-in (for example you changed your Google password or revoked access), the account is marked as needing reconnecting and the connections that use it are paused. Use the Reconnect button on the account row on Home (a healthy account's menu has Re-authorize instead). Signing in again resumes the paused connections. More in Why is my calendar not syncing.
How do I disconnect a Google account?
On Home, open the account's actions menu and choose Remove account. A dialog titled "Remove this account?" tells you how many calendars will be removed from GetCalendario and how many connections will stop syncing. It also asks one question you must decide on:
- Also delete the events we copied, switched on: every event GetCalendario copied out of this account is deleted from the calendars it was copied to.
- Switched off (the default): those copies stay where they are as ordinary events.
Neither choice can be undone. Removing the account does not delete your Google account or your own events. You can also revoke GetCalendario's access from your Google account's security settings, but remove the account in GetCalendario first so its connections stop cleanly.
