How to stop sharing a calendar or reset someone's access
Updated 4 October 2026
On the Calendar Views page, each person you have shared a view with is listed under that view with two buttons beside their email address: Reset access and Stop. Stop ends their access to that view. Reset access keeps them, but starts their passkey setup over, which is how someone who lost a phone or laptop gets back in.
Only you can do either one. Nobody at GetCalendario can reset a viewer for you, which is part of what makes requiring a passkey worth choosing.
How to stop sharing with someone
- Open Calendar Views.
- Find the view, and the person's email address in the list under it.
- Click Stop.
You will see "Access stopped." The person's link stops working. Their access is checked each time their page loads, so no password change or other step is needed on your side. Stop applies to that one view. If you shared two views with the same person, stop each one.
The person is then listed on the view card as "Stopped: their email address". Their place is not deleted. It no longer counts against your plan's limit on people you can share with, so the space is free again straight away.
What the person sees
If they open the link again they see "This calendar is no longer shared" and, when you were the one who stopped it, "
How to share with them again
Send a new invite from Share, using the same email address. Their stopped place comes back and they get a fresh link. Sharing again is allowed at any time, subject to the number of people your plan includes.
Other things that can stop access
A stopped share is not always your doing. If your plan changes to one that cannot share the view as it stands, the plan change can stop shares. Where it leaves you with fewer places than people, nobody is removed without you choosing who stays. The person sees "
If you are on a team, your team can also stop sharing. The person then sees a page saying the view is no longer shared, and that it was your team's rule.
How to reset someone's access
Use Reset access when someone has lost the device their passkey lives on, or you want to retire a device. You can use it on any live share, whichever way in the view uses.
- Click Reset access beside their email address.
- GetCalendario emails them a new link. You see "Sent. They have 24 hours to set up a new passkey, and their old one no longer opens this calendar."
The passkey they had stops opening this view. It still works for any other views they hold from other people. They have 24 hours from your click to set up a new one. You cannot reset someone whose share is stopped. Share with them again instead.
What the person sees when they cannot get in
On a view that requires a passkey, someone whose passkey no longer opens it sees a page titled "Ask for a new passkey". It says only you can start them over, and offers a button, "Ask
There is one known limit. After a reset, the same device cannot create a new passkey for that view, because the old one is still stored there. They need a different device or a password manager. Alternatively, switching the view to Email + Passkey, requested lets people in with an emailed code again, but that changes the way in for everyone who holds the view. The choices are described in Email or passkey: choosing how strict a shared view is.
What to know
- Stopping a share changes nothing on your own calendars.
- A viewer can remove their own passkeys from a "Your passkeys" link on the shared calendar page.
