What happens if your card expires on GetCalendario

Updated 10 October 2026

If the card on your subscription is about to expire, GetCalendario emails you with the subject "Your card on file will expire soon". The email has an Open Billing button that goes to the billing portal, where you can add a new card. Do this before the expiry date, so your next payment goes through.

The email goes to the address on the account that pays for the plan. A secondary account doesn't get it. For a team's bill, it goes to the team's Owner and anyone allowed to manage its billing, and its button opens the team's billing portal. If the card is allowed to expire and a payment fails, the payment is handled by our payment provider, and the points below say what the app does.

When do I get the reminder?

A check runs every day, and it emails you when the card is within 30 days of expiring. A card counts as expiring at the end of the month printed on it. The check only looks at current subscriptions paid by card. You get it once for each card and expiry month. A new card, or a new expiry date on the same card, gets its own reminder.

How do I update my card?

  1. Open the Billing item in the menu (it shows while you have a subscription), or press Open Billing in the reminder email.
  2. In the billing portal, add a new card and make it your default.
  3. Your next payment uses the new card.

You can also reach the portal from Manage Plan: pressing Cancel Subscription ends in the same portal. See how to upgrade, downgrade or cancel.

What if a payment fails?

When a payment first fails, GetCalendario emails you once: "Your payment didn't go through", with the amount, the day our payment provider, Stripe, will try your card again, and an Update your card button that opens the billing portal. You get one email per failed payment, not one for every retry. If Stripe won't try your card again, the email says your plan has stopped and your account is on the Free plan, and its Choose a plan button opens Manage Plan. GetCalendario does not run its own payment retries; the retry schedule belongs to the payment provider, so this page does not state one. For a team's bill, see What happens if the team bill is unpaid.

What the app does is this. While a payment is overdue, we treat your account as having no active paid plan, so Free limits apply until the payment goes through or the subscription ends. If the subscription ends, your account moves to the Free plan: connections and rules beyond Free are paused or switched off, never deleted, and the sync window shortens. See the 14-day trial and the Free plan. When you pay again by choosing a plan on Manage Plan, they come back.

If you cannot see the Billing item in the menu because your payment is overdue, use the Open Billing or Update your card button from an email we sent you, or contact support.

What if I have a free year from referrals?

During a referral free year, nothing is charged. We watch for two cases and email you once, with the notice that fits:

  • About 30 days before billing resumes, we email you what will be charged and to which card (the last four digits). If there is no card on file, the email tells you to add one before the date or your plan will end that day. For a free Basic year with no card, you go back to the Free plan on that date and nothing is charged.
  • If your card will expire before billing resumes, a separate email, "Your card expires before billing resumes", asks you to add a new card so your calendars keep syncing.

These emails come once. See when you get your free year.

What to know

  • Updating a card does not change your plan or your price.
  • Your card details are kept by the payment provider, not in GetCalendario.
  • Secondary accounts do not have a Billing item. The person who pays for the plan updates the card.
