Use GetCalendario with a Skylight family calendar

Updated 9 October 2026

A Skylight calendar on the kitchen wall only shows what it's given. If one parent lives in Outlook for work, the other in Google, and school sends its own calendar, the Skylight shows a partial picture, and anything added on the Skylight stays on the Skylight.

GetCalendario doesn't connect to Skylight directly. It doesn't need to: Skylight syncs with Google Calendar both ways, and GetCalendario connects that same Google calendar to everything else. The Google calendar sits in the middle.

Everyone's calendars → GetCalendario → a Google "Family" calendar ↔ Skylight

Set it up

  1. Make a Google calendar for the family, for example Family (Skylight). It's best to use a new calendar rather than anyone's personal one, so you decide exactly what goes on the wall.
  2. Show it on the Skylight. In the Skylight app, add the Google account that owns that calendar and turn the calendar on. (Skylight's own help covers these steps.)
  3. Feed it from GetCalendario. Make a connection from each calendar you want on the wall into Family (Skylight): a parent's Outlook or Microsoft 365 calendar, the other parent's Google calendar, a school feed, a teenager's calendar.

Within a few minutes, everything flows onto the Skylight.

Events added on the Skylight

Skylight writes an event back to Google when you give it a Google calendar. So when you add an event on the Skylight frame or in the Skylight app:

  • Choose Family (Skylight) as its calendar, not Skylight's own built-in calendar. An event on Skylight's own calendar never leaves the frame.

From there, GetCalendario can send it on. Add a connection Family (Skylight) → each person's own calendar, and the dentist appointment someone tapped in at breakfast shows up on their phone and their work calendar.

To send only some events to each person, use a rule on that connection. For example: if the title contains "Dad:", send it to Dad's Outlook calendar. See how to send certain events to a different calendar.

Good to know

  • How fast: Skylight decides how quickly its changes reach Google, usually a minute or two. Once an event is on Google, GetCalendario picks it up like any other change.
  • Two directions, no echoes: a calendar can feed Family (Skylight) and also receive from it. GetCalendario recognizes its own copies and doesn't send them back around. See how to set up two-way calendar sync.
  • Apple calendars: an Apple (iCloud) calendar can feed Family (Skylight) through GetCalendario, but events can't be sent back to an Apple calendar yet.
  • Your Skylight password stays with Skylight. GetCalendario never asks for it; it only connects to your Google calendar.

For the same idea without a wall calendar, see a shared family calendar across Google and Microsoft.
